3 easy-to-make cosmetic products
My essentials : coconut oil and reusable cottons.
Good to know. Coconut oil is an easy-to-find product that has many uses for pampering your body, from nutrition to cosmetics. Are you not a fan of its scent? It is also sold deodorized.
Makeup remover
For those who wear make-up almost daily, make-up remover is quite typically the product that must be renewed regularly. It therefore generates a cost and waste, while there are natural alternatives.
Here, nothing to do! You need cotton wool (preferably reusable, again to limit costs and waste) and one of these materials:
- An oil for waterproof makeup : olive, coconut, apricot kernel or jojoba, a few drops on a cotton ball are enough.
- Water for the rest. Micellar water or cornflower hydrosol last much longer than most makeup remover lotions. However, you can also remove most of your makeup with lukewarm water, in the shower for example, and then wipe a cotton ball with a few drops of apricot or olive oil.
Deodorant
Aluminum salts, parabens, propylene glycol, allergens… many deodorants expose us to substances that can cause various skin problems in some people . Fortunately, it is quite possible to free yourself from it by preparing yourself the deodorant that best suits your skin.
To start, here are two quick and easy recipes that will replace dozens of spray or roll-on.
My winter deodorant:
- 6 tbsp of coconut oil (90 ml) to heat in a double boiler (it liquefies from 30 °)
- ¼ cup of baking soda (60 mL)
- ¼ cup of cornstarch (60 mL)
- (optional) 40 drops of essential oil (Lavender, Geranium, Palmarosa or Tea tree)
Mix with a whisk and store in a reusable pot or roll-on, away from heat.
My summer deodorant:
- On a wet cotton ball, put a drop of lavender essential oil.
- Clean the armpit area. The essential oil provides a sweet smell and purifies the area of bacteria that give this bad smell to perspiration.
- Then pass an alum stone on the still slightly damp area for an antiperspirant effect.
Care for curly hair
Care for curly and frizzy hair is often expensive. In addition, they may contain silicone which creates a sheath around the hair without giving it the slightest care. Eventually, it becomes brittle.
To mask, detangle, or even style curly hair without breaking the bank, use coconut oil or avocado oil instead – either a dab on the ends each morning, or as a weekly full mask. .

My essentials : white vinegar, baking soda, black soap, essential oils.
Good to know. White vinegar is made from corn, wheat or potato alcohol. It is non-toxic for humans and nature, naturally dissolves lime, cleans and disinfects.
Softener
Many softeners can be aggressive for sensitive skin and, in particular, that of young children.
To make your house softener

- 2/3 water.
- You can add 10 drops of essential oil to perfume, but it is optional and not recommended for laundry for toddlers.
To note. The bad smell of the laundry is caused by bacteria. To limit them, remember to dry the laundry at the end of the cycle, as well as cleaning your washing machine regularly (a 60 ° vacuum cycle with white vinegar).
Stain remover
To preserve your laundry, treat stains before washing returned laundry.
To remove a majority of common stains, scrub with Marseille soap or black soap before washing.
Tips. Did you cut yourself while cooking or your child was injured while falling and your clothes are stained with blood? Do not put it in the machine directly, simply soak it in cold water for a few hours (a day or a night) before putting it in the machine. Hot water may set the stain.
